Blogger's Quilt Festival!

Since I actually have a blog now, why not participate in the Blogger's Quilt Festival over at Amy's Creative Side?!  I have enjoyed looking at the quilts in this festival for the past few years, so I am excited to actually participate this time.

The quilt I am entering is a baby quilt that I made earlier this year for a dear friend's baby girl.  This particular friend and I go way back - we were roommates in college and had such a great time.  We are lucky to live in the same town and get together often.  My friend came over to my house and picked the lovely fabric out of my stash!!  The quilt itself is very simple, but such a cheerful, happy design.

Verna baby girl quilt

This quilt is made out of the lovely Verna by Kate Spain for Moda Fabrics and the pattern is actually a free pattern from Kate Spain on the Moda website.  This is kind of my go to baby quilt pattern.  Super easy and a great result every time.

Bouncing Along

This month for our Schnibbles project we had the option of either choosing Bounce or Hubble.  I chose to make Bounce and am just in love with how it is coming together.

I decided to make mine out of Flea Market Fancy by Denyse Schmidt.  I am VERY pleased with my fabric choice and can't wait to finish this beauty up!

For the first time I am linking up to WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced.  I need some quilting accountability in my life!

Block of the Month

This year I decided to participate in the Designer Mystery Block of the Month program offered by the Fat Quarter Shop.  We have made 5 blocks so far and I am just in love with them.  The fabric is Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille for Moda and it has become one of my favorite all time fabric lines.  I just completed Block #5 over the weekend and here is is....

I think Block 5 is my new favorite!  Although, I think I say that every month!

Blocks 1 & 2

This is my first time ever participating in a Block of the Month program and I couldn't be more pleased with this one.  Each month, a fun and beautiful package of fabric arrives with super clear and colored instructions!  There is so much fabric included that I think I could probably make two blocks out of it.

I think I am making for this beauty for my guest room.  My guest room has two twin beds in it and I think I could make matching quilts for the beds with all of the extra fabric.  I can't wait to see what is in store for next month!

100 Quilts for Kids!

Wow!  The 100 Quilts for Kids link has over 200 quilts in it!  That is amazing and not surprising considering how generous and caring the quilting community is.  I am proud to link this quilt up as a part of this great project organized by Katie at Swim, Bike, Quilt!

Since I am linking up so late, the pictures are pretty poor but the quilt is so pretty in person - if I do say so myself! :)

Cross Bridge Ranch Quilt
Quilt for Crossbridge Ranch

This quilt is being donated to the Crossbridge Girls Ranch in my small East Texas town.  This ranch provides a place for girls in between foster care and adoption.  We have just started the East Texas Modern Quilt Guild and this is our charity project - creating a quilt for every girl to take with her as she transitions in and out of the ranch.

The pattern I chose was Radio Way by Jaybird Quilts and the fabric is Bliss by Bonnie & Camille for Moda.

Vintage Holiday QAL Finish

My Vintage Holiday Quilt is finished!  I LOVE it!  I am glad I went with non-traditional Christmas fabrics but yet I think the fabrics still have a winter feel to them!

Quilted Vintage Holiday

I made my quilt out of the fun, sweet and cheerful line Sherbet Pips by Aneela Hoey for Moda.  I couldn't be more pleased with it!  Here is a close up of the quilting.....I just hit the wavy line stitch on my machine (#16) and sewed away!  I am really happy with this way of quilting and am glad to have learned you could quilt with this stitch from our group leader Heidi.

Baby Shower!

My youngest sister is having a baby BOY in November!  We are so excited for her and her husband and can't wait to meet little Brooks.  I have three sisters and this is the first little boy that our family will have and we are thrilled and a little unsure as to what to do with a boy.

This past weekend was my sister's baby shower and my Mom and my two other sisters threw her a shower.  It was a baby shower brunch and it turned out really nice.  I regret that I didn't take any pictures of the shower, but I of course took pictures of what I made for Brooks.

Vintage Holiday Quilt Along

For the past few weeks I have been participating in the Vintage Holiday Quilt Along hosted by Heidi who blogs over at Fabric Mutt.  Isn't that just the cutest blog name?!  Anyway, Heidi has been leading us and keeping us all on task as we make the Vintage Holiday pattern designed by the talented Camille Roskelley

This pattern has been so much fun to make (and easy!) and I have loved seeing how different every one's blocks look! I decided to make my quilt out Sherbet Pips by Aneela Hoey for Moda fabrics.  I had been hoarding a fat quarter bundle of this fabric and I thought this line had a winter feel to it - with the scarves and all and I am just so pleased with this choice!  There is a holiday feel to the quilt but with non-traditional colors.

My top three favorite blocks in this quilt are.....

Block 12
People scooting with scarves

Block 8
Puppies playing

Block 3
Little Girls on Swings

I have actually finished quilting and binding this quilt but have been unable to take pictures yet, so I will leave you with a picture of the finished quilt top.  Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and I will be able to get a good finished picture posted in the next few days.
